This health class will be interactive with student led discussions as well as group activities. Our curriculum is designed to help students understand that the decisions they make can affect the quality and quantity of their lives both now and in the future. My classroom is a place where I welcome hard conversations. I want students to learn and grow from each other's perspectives and point of views. Our health lessons and activities focus on the following National Health Standards:
1. Health promotion and disease prevention.
2. Influence of different factors on health behaviors.
3. Use goal setting and decision-making skills to enhance health.
4. Access valid information and use interpersonal communication and skills
5. Practice health enhancing behaviors and avoid or reduce health risks. Students will demonstrate the ability to practice health-enhancing behaviors and reduce health risks.
Grading: Grading procedures will follow the standards based grading model that is implemented at THS. Students will earn 0-1-2-3-4 on the standards listed above. For more information on SBG, please visit the district website.
